Hey everyone! So I was a little annoyed earlier because the post that I created for you guys deleted. It took about 2 hours to make with lots of updates and a whole section on Chia Seeds…just as promised 🙂
Hopefully we can get this done before 9pm
45 minutes..lets go!
OK so Ive had a little case of the Wednesdays… is there even such a thing?
It’s gloomy outside and not very motivating, and I’m sure being in class from 9:00-2:00 didn’t help.
We’ve all had those days, so why don’t I focus on the positives.
After I got out of my classes I headed to the beauty salon to grab a few items.
I walked out with these…
BUT I seriously got a steal. Most everything was buy 1 get two FREE or BOGO 50% off
That put me in a good mood, and when I get home things got even better.
I came home to this at my front door!
For those of you who don’t know I am a Vitalicous fanatic!
Recently I was voted Vitalicous Fan of the month
and they sent me this lovely sample pack.
Why LOVE the Vita Tops? Here’s my reasons:
1. They taste amazing… like brownie amazing! Actually they have brownies, muffins, muffin tops and new vita cakes. You can heat them up for 30 second sin the microwave, toast them, or eat them frozen.
2. They have to be frozen because they contain no preservatives, no artificial flavors, no artificial ingredients, and most are without milk. 🙂
3. They have added Vitamins, extra fiber to stay fuller, more protein, and less fat
4. They are only 3 WW points or 100-110 calories
Seriously what’s not to love ❤
For those of you who are curious here’s what came in my sample pack!
This really put the icing on the
cake vita top.
Alright so onto my other obsession
You Remember right?
CH CH CH CHIA!
Enough of that, here’s a picture of these bad boys
and here’s a look inside
Chia Seeds are amazing, and I’ve been adding a TB in my oatmeal every morning. They are described as having a nutty taste and are very comparable to flax seeds.
So why Chia Seeds?
There are many benefits you can get from Chia Seeds and I’d like to talk about a few of the important ones:
1. Make you feel full
Chia Seeds are full of fiber and protein. Both fiber and protein provide many benefits for the body, but one particular benefit is making you feel fuller. Feeling fuller leads to eating less, therefore Chia Seeds are a great way to help with weight loss
2. Balanced Blood Sugar
Keeping balanced levels of blood sugar is important for both health and energy. Eating high starchy meals will spike your blood sugar, and a constant up and down of the blood sugar could eventually lead to diabetes. What Chia seeds do is help turn your food into constant steady energy, instead of a series of ups and downs. This will provide more energy which leads to better productivity in life.
3. Omega 3’s
Omega 3’s are very important and crucial for your health. They help with brain function, prevention of heart disease, and high cholesterol. Other than supplements, one way to get Omega 3’s is by eating fish. Fish will eat the Omega 3’s and then you can eat the fish. But what is you don’t like fish or you’re vegan/vegetarian?
By weight Chia contains more Omega 3’s then salmon!
Do you enjoy baking? Most recipes that call for butter or oil can be cut in half and substitute the other half with Chia Seed gel. The Chia Seed gel is simply gel seeds soaked in water and refrigerated. Since the seeds expand, if you leave them in water they will solidify and form into a gel. This gel is what you would use in substituting.
How cool is that? Lots of ways to get nutrition 🙂
Most people have heard of anti oxidants (blueberries) but this fruit isn’t always in season. You also sometimes can no afford blueberries even when they are in season, and eating Chia Seeds in a great way to get them. No chemicals, no preservatives, just CHIA. This is not found in any other seed including flax
6. Chia versus Flax
Flax seeds are good for you, most recently there have been links to added estrogen with flax. Too much estrogen for women especially, can cause a variety of problems including fertility issues, early menopause, depression etc.
Chia Seeds actually help prevent a lot of these symptoms and diseases. Chia seeds help with and prevent depression, menopause, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol, great source on iron, potassium, calcium, protein, fiber, omega 3’s and omega 6, and antioxidants.
So I hope everyone give Chia Seeds a try.
I’ll be posting more recipes including them, and I would love to know what you guys think!
Thanks Everyone.. 10 min past 9:00pm..
not bad 🙂
